Your ideal dataset
15 minutes, included in the live session if you attend
Imagine what your ideal dataset looks like:
- What information (themes, attributes, data values) does it contain?
- What geographic area does it cover (coverage or extent)? Is it global, national, local…?
- What level of spatial detail (resolution or grain) does it have? How coarse or fine is the spatial scale? Do the data vary amongst continents or countries, or on a scale of metres, or somewhere in between?
- At what point in time was it collected? Is a single snapshot sufficient, or do you need multiple repeat visits? Over what time period?
- What level of temporal detail does it have? A single value for a decade, multiple datapoints within a single hour or day, or somewhere in between?
Thinking back to our earlier mindmap, what else should you consider regarding the content, quality, reliability of the dataset?
