Community forum
VerdantLearn’s community forum is where our collaborative learning happens!
You already joined our forum when you signed up for the course - here’s a reminder of how it works
Most of our community forum is public, and to be eligible for a certificate of completion, you’ll need to submit your assignments in the public area of the community - we’ll point you to the right place for each assignment
To help you prepare for the assignments, and tailor this course to your needs, you also have access to a private discussion space, and a chat channel. Use them to:
- Discuss what you’re learning
- Ask for help if you get stuck
- Receive feedback on your draft assignments
- Report errors or make suggestions for improvement
In general, we recommend you use the discussion space when you need to type several paragraphs, share a screenshot or ask a more complex question, and the chat channel for brief queries and social chat
Advice on using the forums
Some advice on using forums efficiently:
- Before creating a new topic, consider whether it would be better to reply to an existing topic. The aim is to talk to each other, rather than create many single-post discussions! 😉
- You can edit and delete your own posts
- If you create a new conversation in the wrong place, let me know and I will move it
- You can adjust your Notification preferences for each topic by clicking on the
**Watching/Tracking**
button at the end of a topic.Watching
means new posts will be emailed to you. You can also adjust your site-wide email notification preferences
Try out the community site!
We recommend you:
- Complete discobot’s 🤖 brief tutorial on using Discourse, the open source software our community is based upon. Find this in your messages
- Edit your profile:
- Add a picture of yourself (or something that has meaning to you) to your account preferences to appear beside your posts 📷
- Add a description to your profile to help others get to know you 👋
- Add LinkedIn, TWitter/X or Instagram handles so your coursemates can find you where you normally talk about your work
